• Under direct supervision, rigs up and rigs down cementing service equipment on work locations, including spotting cement storage vessels, pre-mixing spacer fluids, identifying additives to be mixed on-the-fly, and rigging-up data monitoring equipment.
• Plan emergency backup equipment and contingencies; perform pre-job calculations related to pipe capacities, volume/height math, plug landing pressures, absolute volumes (including total water requirements), hydrostatic and differential pressure, resulting forces, balanced plugs, bulk cement blending, and calculations involving liquid additives and weighted spacers.
• Complete documents, reports, and forms related to the cementing service performed.
• Train and provide guidance to operator assistants in pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and associated paperwork and/or reports.
• Train operator assistants in the operation of cement pumping and mixed equipment, blenders, liquid additive metering systems, centrifugal pumps, data acquisition systems, Automatic Density Control (ADC) systems, bulk cement blending, delivery and storage systems, manifold equipment, and cementing plug releasing tools.
• Demonstrate basic knowledge of products such as cementing blends, spacer fluid systems, sodium silicate fluid system, loss circulation additives, casing attachments, float equipment, multiple stage cementing tools, and squeeze packers.
• Understand basic lab test data (e.g., pump time, density, yield, water ratio).
• Perform job tasks in a manner that can influence cost containment, efficiency, profitability or operations; recognize that consequences of error are measurable and can be confined.
• Possess the education and experience typically required: high school or equivalent; at least 6 months of experience as an Operator Asst-Cementing, II; licensure to drive commercial equipment may be required.
• Complete required I-Learn courses as applicable (e.g., General Hydraulics for Downhole Tools and Essential Preventative Maintenance).
• Communicate effectively with others; promote safety awareness and environmental consciousness; comply with safety and environmental procedures and regulations; promote active participation in quality improvement processes.
• Meet job-related testing or task guideline requirements.
